The Great Thesaurus Giveaway

The goal of this program is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionaries and thesaurus. These tools are for each student to use at school and at home for years to come.

Rotary Student Support Program

Rotary Student Support Program

The Rotary Student Support Program was initially organized in the early 2000s to collect school supplies for local students. In recent years, the focus has shifted to year-round support of students at the Mapleton and Siuslaw Districts. All funds raised are divided proportionally between the Mapleton and Siuslaw School Districts for counselors to use throughout the year. Counselors have reported using the funds most often to purchase food and food cards; clothing and shoes; backpacks; hygiene items; gas to get to and from school; and cell phone payments and phone chargers. The Rotary Club of Florence typically donates between $3,000 and $5,000 to the local schools each year!

Literacy program

During National Reading month local Rotarians provide an opportunity for all readers, preschool thru 5th grade the opportunity to select a book ‘for keeps’.  The excitement of reading for enjoyment celebrates the magic of book ownership and inspires children to pick up a book and delve into its wonders. 

Fantasy Island Beautification

Every few months, Rotarians and friends gather at the triangle at Hwy 101 & Hwy 126 to clean up the property, plant new flowers & shrubs and help to make the entrance into Florence as beautiful and inviting as possible.

Student Recognition

The mission of Rotary International is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.  The Student of the Quarter program helps foster these attributes in the world’s future leaders by recognizing and rewarding students who display good citizenship, ethics, honor and kindness. Each Quarter the Rotary Club of Florence will honor one High School and one Middle School student from both Siuslaw & Mapleton with the Student of the Quarter award. Students may be selected by teachers, school administrators, guidance counselors or coaches.

Charitable Donation Request

The Rotary club of Florence is a non-profit, service organization whose objective is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise. Our club often supports requests from local organizations with monetary support. If your organization is one of those, please complete the request form and return it as soon as possible.
